FACULTY & STAFF
“The greatest sign of success for a teacher... is to be able to say, “The children are now working as if I did not exist.”
At St. Dunstan’s Montessori School, we understand that to serve children well, they must be guided by adults who embody the qualities of respect, humility, collaboration, flexibility and a joy for learning.
Our staff is a committed group of adults holding bachelor’s and master’s degrees in child development and psychology and diplomas from Montessori World Educational Institute (MWEI), American Montessori Society (AMS), and Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) in Assistance to Infancy, Primary, and Elementary training. Additionally, all our staff are trained in Positive Discipline in the Montessori Classroom to best support the children’s inner discipline in a clear and kind approach.
Up-to-date with CPR certifications and Mandated Reported training, our staff are equipped to meet the emergent needs of the students. As a team of life-long learners, our staff takes advantage of our Professional Development opportunities pursuing workshops in Language and Literacy, Anti-Bias Anti-Racist Training, Permaculture, Music and Movement, Occupational Therapy support, among many more.
Holding memberships with AMS, AMI, California Montessori Association (CMA), our staff has access to the wealth of knowledge provided by these organizations to support continued education. As a group, we attend the annual AMI, AMS, or CMA conferences to further expand our knowledge for the sake of the children.
We believe that no one can pour from an empty cup, so we are committed to creating a positive and supportive working environment for our staff. Monthly check-ins, social activities outside of school, lunch or coffee deliveries, group yoga, and birthday celebrations are some of the ways we build community within our staff.
We understand that by modeling a positive, joyful, collaborative, and supportive environment, we create a warm and secure space for the children in our care. We strive to extend grace to ourselves and each other, demonstrate respect for all, and consistently keep the child at the center of our mission.
